The Silent Master
On 10 July 1925 Meher Baba stopped speaking, and he never spoke again for the rest of his life — more than forty years. He communicated first by pointing out letters on an alphabet board, and later by hand gestures alone, which those closest to him learned to read aloud.
He was never silent about what he had come to say. His words were written down, spelled out and gestured, and they fill books. But the silence itself was the point: he said that the world had heard enough words, and that he had come not to teach but to awaken.

Mastery in servitude
Those three words stand over his Samadhi. They hold what he asked of the people who loved him: that greatness is not something you take but something you give, and that the highest place is the one that serves.
One humanity
Meher Baba did not ask anyone to change their religion, and he did not found one. He asked people to stop letting creed, race and religion divide them — to see past those walls to the unity that was already there underneath. That is the spirit this shrine was built in, and the reason its dedication was written in English and in Spanish, for whoever came.
